QGIS Practical Workshops 1-3 [audit]

This section contains the first three of the four QGIS workshops that form the practical element of this course. The workshops take you through key tasks step-by-step and should be completed in order as each workshop builds on the one before. Each practical should take between 45mins and 1hr to complete. The first three focus on building your QGIS project and getting to grips with raster and vector data. The final workshop later in the course is all about creating professional maps for printing and publication.

We recommend that you complete the background lessons up to and including Georeferencing before starting the practical workshops and the Maps for Communication section before you complete Workshop 4. To help keep you on track, you will need to submit evidence of completion before you can move onto the next workshop.

All the practicals use the same datapack, so download this from the Google Drive link below before you start and unzip it to somewhere sensible on your hard drive.

Don’t struggle in silence!

Although we can’t be with you at each step as we would be in our face-to-face training, we want to do everything possible to make sure that you don’t get stuck. Our workshops have very detailed instructions and screen shots to make it easy to work through them independently.

You might also find it helpful to plan to your practical workshops to coincide with the live zoom sessions for your cohort as this will be the ideal time to get help instantly on a subject. Details of these sessions are in your payment confirmation email.

If you need help at any other point you can contact course leader Rebecca who will always endeavour to respond within 2 working days.
