Next Steps (audit)

The best advice we can give you as you prepare to complete this course is to practice, practice, practice! Like any new skillset, using QGIS takes time to become second nature and if you are not using the software routinely setting aside a couple of 30 minute slots a week to check back in with the workshops from the course will make a big difference to your abilities and confidence.

To support this we want to share with you some pointers for accessing help and resources as you continue to work with QGIS.

Online resources

There are a wealth of online resources and tutorials for QGIS. The two most important to note are the official QGIS Gentle Introduction to key functions and the more extensive QGIS User Manual.

The British Archaeological Jobs Resource produced a very handy QGIS Guide in 2016 with downloadable data packages for Sutton Hoo and Forgandenny. It is written for QGIS 2 so the interfaces have changed a little, but armed with what you have learned in this course you should be able to follow the practical tasks in the guide to embed your skills on a new dataset.

There are also some excellent free, non-heritage focussed online training e.g.
