As we have seen with the georeferencer and quick map services in Workshop 1, the core functionality of QGIS can be extended via plugins. At the time of writing there are currently over 1400 plugins available in the repository which can make finding the ones you need a bit harder for new users. In this short section we introduce our favourite plugins for historic environment work.
Plugins are added to QGIS by searching in the Manage and Install Plugins tool. They may appear in different toolbars so pay attention to the icons to locate the plugin once you have installed it.
Each plugin also has an information page in the repository, with summary details about the plugin, including the author, version history, a user rating and links to any additional resources.
